Kentwood Springs Student Athlete of the Week

(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans baseball player John Nicholson has been named the Kentwood Springs Student Athlete of the Week for the week of March 16.

The senior from San Diego, California helped lead the Wolf Pack to a 3-2 record for the week. Nicholson hit .467 (7-15) with one home run, one double, three RBI and five runs scored. He had at least one hit in all but one game this past week and totaled two multi-hit games.

In a 6-5 win over Jesuit rival Spring Hill, Nicholson went 1-2 with two walks and two runs scored. And in a 9-7 win over conference opponent Middle Georgia State, he was a perfect 3-3 and hit a solo home run in the first inning.
For the season, Nicholson ranks eighth in the SSAC in batting average (.396), third in on-base percentage (.524) seventh in slugging percentage (.625), eighth in hits (38), fifth in RBI (30), third in doubles (13) and tenth in home runs (3).

The Kentwood Springs Student Athlete of the Week is awarded to Loyola student athletes who exemplify Ignatian values through excellence in the classroom, in the community and in competition.
