Kentwood Springs Student Athlete of the Week

Mon, 04/20/2015

(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans men’s track and field athlete Christian Lynch has been named the Kentwood Springs Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of April 27.

The sophomore from Baltimore, Md. wrapped up an impressive season at the Longhorn Invitational on Saturday, May 2 in Austin, Texas, breaking the Loyola school record in the 100m dash with a time of 10.76. Lynch also competed in the long jump, finishing with a distance of 6.96m, just .04m short of the school record.

Lynch finishes the outdoor season with four new school records to his name. Along with the 100m record he obtained this past weekend, he also broke school records in the 200m and the triple jump this season, and was the second leg of the 4x200m relay team that set a new Loyola record.

In addition to his outdoor records, Lynch broke the school record in the 60m dash during the 2015 indoor season.
This marks the first time this year Lynch has been named the Kentwood Springs Student-Athlete of the Week, and the second time for his career. Lynch also won the honor last year on April 7.

The Kentwood Springs Student Athlete of the Week is awarded to Loyola student athletes who exemplify Ignatian values through excellence in the classroom, in the community and in competition.
